WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS DATA?
The Open Data workshop for CSOs and Data Journalists in the ECIS region was
designed to address the needs and challenges that the growing open data
community is facing in Europe and Central Asia.
The workshop brought together 30 journalists, civic activists, and data analysts–a very
diverse group of open data aficionados from over 15 countries across the region.
From the outset, we were committed to convening an event intended to have results lasting
beyond the two days that we spent together and start building
the foundation of the Open Data in Europe and Central Asia (ODECA) network.
Our initial goals were to:
1. provide an open space for leaders of open data initiatives across
the region to network and exchange experiences;
2. discuss examples of successful open data initiatives for replication in the region and;
3. improve technical, data skills which would enable all of us to understand
the standards and improve the quality of the data that we have.
